House of Assembly impeaches Deputy Gov. Mahadi Ali

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has impeached the state Deputy Governor, Mahadi Ali, over alleged gross misconduct, abuse of office, among others.

He was impeached during plenary on Wednesday, February 23, shortly after the House received the report of the committee set up by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu, to investigate the allegations against him.

The seven-member committee found him guilty of the allegations levelled against him. And all 20 members of the house, who were present at Wednesday sitting of the Assembly, voted in support of the impeachment.

The House has 24 members and requires at least 18 of them voting to remove the deputy governor from office.
