YY Comedian has come forward to deny claims made by fellow comedian Paul Wakimani that Churchill Show founder Daniel Ndambuki, popularly known as Churchill, once gifted his performers with cars and Sh300,000 each. The controversy has sparked discussions within the comedy community and among fans, raising questions about the alleged generosity of the renowned comedian and show founder.
In a clear clarification of Wakimani’s claims, YY Comedian took to social media to set the record straight. He emphasized that no cars were ever purchased for the comedians by Churchill, addressing the rumors that have left many questioning the integrity of the popular comedy show.
YY wrote, “Let me clarify because a lot of people are asking why no one bought us cars. No one, Paul, you can’t make people look that ungrateful of whose interest is all this showroom stories?”
He highlighted the reluctance of comedians to speak out against Churchill, fearing that such actions might be perceived as ingratitude or as an attempt to undermine the show’s founder.
According to Wakimani, the alleged gift-giving event took place during a meeting where Churchill sought to address complaints from some comedians who felt unsupported. Wakimani claimed that Churchill asked the performers what they wanted, with some expressing a desire for cars and others seeking financial support for their shows.
Wakimani alleged that Churchill then divided the comedians into groups based on their preferences, providing Sh300,000 to each group of three to organize and perform shows outside Nairobi. Those aspiring to own cars were allegedly directed to showrooms to choose their preferred vehicles.
While Wakimani could not recall specific individuals who received cars, he mentioned that comedians Eddie Butita, Njoro, Jemutai, and Karis were among those who supposedly benefited from Churchill’s support.
The lack of clarity regarding the recipients of these alleged gifts adds another layer of complexity to the controversy as Oga Obinna claims he was also present on the material day and what Wakimaki said was 50% untrue.
