Nollywood actress Doris Simeon has opened up about her tough custody fight with her ex-husband, Daniel Ademinokan.
In an interview with Biola Bayo on ‘Talk to B’, Doris talked about the emotional struggle of being away from her son, who was only 4 when Daniel took him to the US.
She remembered that the last time she could care for her son was when he was 3.
Doris admitted that both she and Daniel made mistakes, but the hardest part for her has been not being able to be a mother to her child.
She explained how Daniel took their son without her agreement, making it harder to stay in touch.
In her words:
“I might have had my fault, he also had his fault. That’s why I said I didn’t feel anything when they got married, but the only thing is that he didn’t allow me to mother my child. That’s the only painful part.
He took my son without my consent, he was just 4 years old when he came to the US. He was 3 when I mothered my child last. I was calling, but he wouldn’t pick up, and when he picked up, he would tell me he would call me back as he was busy, and for another 3 to 4 months, I wouldn’t get through.
I was frustrated and depressed, but I can never show that because I knew the family I came from as my parents told us to be strong, no matter what you’re going through in life. I just went for a movie premiere and someone told me I am not here to see my son. That was how they took us to court”.
