Following the official confirmation of his retirement from international football, the experienced midfielder according to reports is set to make a shocking return to the Premier League with his old club Man City.
It had initially been reported that Ilkay was searching for a move away from his current club, Barcelona and with his contract in its final days it is of no surprise that clubs are lining up to sign one of the best midfielders in the history of football.
Is Ilkay Gundogan returning to Man City?
Fresh reports from popular journalist Fabrizio Romano Man City have shown huge interest in resigning Ilkay Gundogan with his contract in its final days. It was confirmed that both camps are currently in talks following contact from Man City with the approval of Pep Guardiola.
This is not shocking given the heavy influence Gundogan had in the Manchester City side in the 2022/2023 season where the Cityzens won the Champions League and Premier League in the same season.
What other clubs are interested in signing Gundogan?
It has been confirmed that Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe-led side are also interested in signing the former German international. Although updates on how far the deal has progressed have not been confirmed yet but with Manchester City stepping in to also indicate interest many believe it is highly unlikely Gundogan goes to the Turkish league.
