Governor Wike requests refund on federal projects, Tinubu rejects obligation

There was a surprising turn of events in Rivers state as Governor Nyesom Wike made a request to Nigeria’s president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to refund the funds used in constructing federal government projects in the state.

The request was made during Tinubu’s visit to Rivers state on Wednesday, May 3rd, to commission important projects in the state.

Upon his arrival, Tinubu was received by Governor Wike and other top government officials in the state.

During the inauguration of the Rumuokuta Flyover, Tinubu responded to Wike’s request by declaring that the federal government (FG) under his administration owes no obligation to make refunds on federal projects undertaken by states of the federation, as reported by Vanguard.

However, Tinubu also stated that he could reconsider his stance on the request if Governor Wike lobbies him.

This statement has left many Nigerians speculating about the possible outcome of the situation.

It is unclear whether Governor Wike will take up Tinubu’s offer to lobby him or seek other means to get the funds refunded to the state.

The disagreement between the two politicians has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians online.

As the situation unfolds, many are eagerly waiting to see the outcome of the disagreement between Tinubu and Wike, especially regarding the refund for federal projects constructed by the Rivers state government.
