Globacom, Nigeria’s indigenous telecommunications solutions provider, has reaffirmed its commitment to sponsoring the 2023 edition of the renowned Ojude Oba Festival, one of the country’s most significant cultural events.
The festival takes place two days after the Eid-El-Kabir celebration in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
Having been the main sponsor of the Ojude Oba Festival for nearly two decades, Globacom has played a vital role in enhancing the event’s reputation, attracting both local and international visitors to Ijebuland during the festivities.
The company’s continuous support has helped elevate the cultural significance of the festival.
During a pre-event press conference held at the Awujale Palace in Ijebu Ode, Mr. Sola Mogaji, representing Globacom, delivered a speech highlighting the theme of this year’s edition: “OJUDE OBA: A LESSON IN RELIGIOUS HARMONY.”
This theme emphasizes the importance of religion and unity in Nigeria.
Globacom expressed its commitment to collaborate with the Ojude Oba Planning Committee, emphasizing its dedication to support the cherished cultures, traditions, and customs of Nigerians.
The company believes that partnerships like these contribute to the promotion of tourism and the preservation of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
The telecommunications giant said;
“Our collaboration with the Ojude Oba Planning Committee is geared towards celebrating the unique tradition of the Ijebu people and, at the same time, fostering the cause of tourism which Ojude Oba has promoted for more than 100 years. This festival, which has gained global recognition, attracts tourists from other parts of Nigeria and the diaspora.”
Dr. Fassy Adetokunbo Yusuff, the Coordinator of the 2023 Ojude Oba Planning Committee, commended Globacom for its unwavering support of the festival throughout the years.
He emphasized that the Ojude Oba Festival is not only a grand display of opulence by the sons and daughters of Ijebuland but also a time for indigenes to reunite and extend warmth to friends, families, and relatives from near and far.
