Olympique Marseille have parted ways with head coach Gennaro Gattuso following a string of poor results.
The decision came after Marseille’s 1-0 defeat to Brest in the French Ligue 1, despite playing with a man advantage for the majority of the match.
Gattuso, who took over from Marcelino in September 2023, has struggled to deliver positive results, with Marseille failing to secure a victory since January.
The team’s recent form, with just three points from their last five matches, led to Gattuso’s dismissal.
The Italian coach expressed his disappointment in a post-match press conference, admitting the team’s lack of soul and apologizing to the fans.
Marseille’s recent performances have been lackluster, with the team failing to register a shot on target in three of their last four games.
Gattuso, known for his playing career at Milan and with the Italian national team, has previously coached teams in Serie A, including Palermo, Pisa, Milan, and Napoli.
His tenure at Marseille, however, has been marred by poor results, leading to his departure from the French club.
