Funke Akindele, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate, was defeated at her polling unit by the incumbent governor and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the voting process that took place on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
At Funke Akindele polling unit in Ita Aro Square, Àga/Ijimu ward in Ikorodu, Akindele received 19 votes, while Sanwo-Olu received 77 votes. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party governorship candidate, received three votes, and Funsho Doherty of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) received two votes.
So far, Sanwo is leading the polls after winning more polling units, including that of the Labour Party’s GRV.
