Folarin Balogun set to return for Monaco ahead of Benfica test

AS Monaco forward Folarin Balogun may make his return to action in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Benfica.

This follows a rapid recovery from a dislocated shoulder.

The injury, sustained in early October during Monaco’s win over Stade Rennais, initially sidelined the 23-year-old for at least two months.

However, Balogun has progressed quicker than expected, training intermittently with the first team in recent weeks.

Head coach Adi Hütter provided an update on Balogun’s status during a press conference, saying:

“We will see if he comes back tomorrow (against Benfica) or against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday.

“He is back on track. He needs game time. He has been back in practice (fully) in the last couple of days and he looks really good.

“The next step for him is to play but he’s looking good, and we’re happy that he is back.”

Balogun, a former Arsenal prospect, had been in strong form for Monaco before his injury, and his return will be a significant boost for the Ligue 1 title contenders.
