An unnamed Nigerian fisherman is receiving praise for catching a Manatee, a huge sea mammal worth millions of naira.
A recent post shared on Facebook by Niger Delta Insider revealed that the celebration isn’t solely due to the man’s actions, but because of the rarity of such creatures in the community.
The post included a statement that read, “A fisherman from Ogbolobolo community in Ahoada West LGA, Rivers State, is being celebrated by his people for catching a huge Manatee (Sea cow).”
“According to them, this sea mammal, called ASANIMA in their local dialect, is rarely captured, which is why he is being hailed for his bravery.”
The post also featured photos showing the man, already adorned with white substance, surrounded by community members.
