Everton face potential further points deduction as financial breach woes continue

Everton’s woes this season have taken another twist as they find themselves embroiled in yet another points deduction controversy.

The club have been sanctioned for breaching Profit and Sustainability rules, raising concerns about their Premier League standing.

After already enduring a ten-point deduction earlier in the season, Everton now face an even tougher battle to escape relegation.

Sean Dyche’s team is currently only one point above the relegation zone, with further deductions looming.

The club’s breach relates to the £105m limit over a three-year period, with Everton allegedly exceeding this threshold.

Despite already being penalized for overspending in the 2021/22 season, they now face repercussions for their financial accounts in the following season of 2022/23.

In response to the Premier League’s decision to refer the breach to an independent commission, Everton issued a statement expressing their stance.

“Everton Football Club acknowledges the Premier League’s decision to refer a breach of Profit & Sustainability rules (PSR) for the assessment period ending with the 2022/23 season to an independent Premier League commission.

“Everton can assure its fans that it will continue to defend its position during the ongoing appeal and, should it be required to do so, at any future commission – and that the impact on supporters will be reflected as part of that process,” it added.
