Eight teenagers arrested for gang-rape of 14-year-old in Ogun

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, has arrested a 17-year-old boy Matthew Omotayo, and seven others, for allegedly, gang-raping a 14-year-old girl.

This was disclosed in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Dyke Ogbonnaya, on Thursday.

He noted that the eight teenagers had reportedly raped and filmed the victim without her consent in the Ijebu-Mushin area of the state, adding that they had threatened to post the video on the social media.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, has arrested one Matthew Omotayo, male, 17 years and seven other suspected teenagers for alleged conspiracy, sexual abuse, unlawful sexual intercourse, exploitation and assault of a 14-year-old minor (name withheld) at the Ijebu-Mushin, Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State on Friday, November 15, 2024,” he stated

He added that the victim accused the suspects of blackmailing her with the video of the intercourse, threatening to upload the video on social media if she did not allow them to have her again which she consented to until she resolved to report the matter to the NSCDC Divisional Office at Ijebu-Mushin, Ogun State.

He further disclosed that investigation has commenced into the incident, and assured that justice will be served.

A Magistrate court sitting in Ijebu, has however, remanded the suspects for 60 days pending the outcome of the investigation.
