The Edo State Government has felicitated with Dr Osahon Enabulele as he resumes office as the President of the World Medical Association this month.
Former President Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Dr Osahon Enabulele, emerged as the President-elect of the World Medical Association, WMA in the election that took place last year, October 2021, but his tenure only starts now.
His emergence followed an almost one week period of voting by participating National Medical Associations all over the world.
Enabulele will be superintending over the World Medical Association during the 2022 – 2023 Executive year.
Enabulele, a Chief Consultant Family Physician, is also currently the President of Commonwealth Medical Association, CMA, a seat he won since November, 2019, and will retain for three years.
In a statement by its Commissioner for Health, Prof. Obehi Akoria, the government of Edo State -from where Dr Enabulele hailed- has felicitated with its own, appreciating the outstanding physician for putting Edo State and Nigeria on the global map.

Prof Akoria in the statement said, “I rejoice on the installation of our own Dr. Osahon Enabulele as President of the World Medical Association.
“I heartily congratulate an outstanding Ambassador of University of Benin and University of Benin Teaching Hospital, and of the Nigeria Medical Association for putting Edo State, Nigeria and Africa on the annals of history.”
About Dr Enabulele
A consultant family physician at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Edo State, 51-year-old Mr Enabulele was also the first Nigerian to be elected chairman of Socio-Medical Affairs Committee (SMAC) of the World Medical Association (WMA).
Mr Enabulele rose to the position of President-elect after more than 14 years of his involvement in the activities at the global level.
In 2019, he also became the first Nigerian physician to be elected as President of the Commonwealth Medical Association since the body’s creation in November, 1962.
