A Kenya show promoter has called out Nigerian songstress, Tems over her alleged flimsy excuse for canceling the show after receiving payment.
The drama started when Tems who just became the first Nigerian to win BMI award took to Twitter to announce that she will not be coming to Kenya despite people paying to see her perform.
The singer apologized ahead of the Tukutane festival, slated for 15th of October, 2022 in Kenya.
Taking to the micro-blogging app, Tems revealed that it is due to circumstances beyond her control. The Crazy Tings crooner also promised to make it up to them as soon she as can. She tweeted:
“Hey Kenya
Honestly, it’s quite heartbreaking to say this but I will not be able to perform at the Tukutane Festival due to circumstances beyond my control. I am as disappointed as you all are but I look forward to coming and giving you a show that you deserve. Love you all.”
However, hours later, Tukutane Entertainment released a statement claiming the musician canceled the show despite receiving full payment for it. It alleged that Tems manager stated the singer was no longer comfortable going to Kenya and doesn’t want to perform there.
The statement further said that they will be rescheduling the event to a later date which will be announced later. The organizers also stated that everyone who had paid for the event will be refunded.
