Alright. So a friend of mine Gideon Abowha sent this interesting topic to me last night. It was late already, so I couldn’t put it up on NL.
He asked, Do you think Peter Obi can win 2023 Presidential Election under Labour Party?
He wrote,
It’s no longer a news that 2023 Presidential Election is fast approaching and all electoral processes have started to make sure the forthcoming election is free and fair.
Peter Obi whom I personally call ” Most Preferred Candidate of the Moment” recently decamped from his party from PDP to LP (Labour Party) and there have been several debates on his winning chances under his new party (Labour Party).
One of the determining and winning factor of any candidate is political party and I don’t think Labour Party is nowhere compare to APC and PDP.
Let’s ask ourselves these questions:
How old is Labour Party?
How many seats have the party won in gubernatorial election, Senate, house of assembly?
Does the party have a clear structure?
What’s the financial capacity of Labour Party?
Can they finance Peter Obi?
Perplexing, right? Yeah. Peter Obi might need to finance the Labour Party to stand a chance. I know he has money but is he really capable of independently financing his ambition under Labour Party?
Labour Party is more like a local party with no clear structure. The influence of a party goes a long way on the party flagbearer. I am not disputing the fact that Peter Obi currently have large supporters which I think stand him a great chance. But, can that alone make him WIN. What about his Party?
Labour Party doesn’t have a good record to produce the next Nigeria President. Perhaps, Peter Obi made a wrong party choice. They don’t have a good structure and finances to flag a presidential candidate.
I will like to hear your opinion. Can Labour Party make Peter Obi OBIdiently win?
