On Friday 22nd of April, Hundreds of supporters, including women and youth groups, stormed the office of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja calling on him to contest for President in 2023.
They lamented that since he left office, hunger, insecurity, and unemployment, among others have become the order of the day.
Also the Governor of Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed says he would only consider stepping down his presidential ambition in 2023 if his former President Goodluck Jonathan indicates interest in contesting for the post.
We’ve had series of individuals calling on the ex-president to run for the office of the president again.
As of today Tuesday 26th of April, Arewa group backs Jonathan, says it’s call for service.
The statement titled, “Why Jonathan’s candidacy is an option for better Nigeria”, said, “our current situation at best can no longer be trusted in the hands of ill-experienced politicians whose contact and influence radiates within shallow boundaries.”
The question is, why are they calling on Jonathan to run again if he was voted out for not performing well.
If he accepts, which political party would give him the ticket as the flag bearer. If he joins APC his image may be tarnished, PDP would most likely not give him the ticket with Wike, Atiku, and Obi who are strongly contesting for the ticket already.
On the other hand, If he fails to accept the request people would say he was called to change the situation but he failed Nigerians. Goodluck Jonathan must be at a crossroads right now.
