When Dice Ailes started out, he was one of the most promising new acts in the music industry.
As a Chocolate City signee, he had quite the platform and it looked like maybe he could even be the next Wizkid.
In 2015/16, that wasn’t even an overreach. A lot of artists were getting the WizKid comparison (Reekado Banks, Sugarboy, etc) and for a minute it seemed as if nobody was actually good enough to match Wizkid’s vibe. That was because his sound seems refined and always fresh. Maybe it was his voice, but there was something other artists just didn’t have.
But one guy had it. He had the sound, he could do that smooth laid-back better maybe even better than Wiz. Yeah, that guy was Dice Ailes.
Today, you can pick out five new guys in the industry and three of them will be sounding like Rema. Well, before Rema even existed on the scene, Dice Ailes has been singing like that. You had to be there!
He got the praises of the fans and people loved him. He could easily have gone on to be as big as Kizz Daniel is today. Or even bigger. But something went wrong along the line and just like that, it was all gone.
In 2020, Dice Ailes had a hit with Olamide (“Pim Pim”) and he’s been trying to do something since. Today, he released an EP and it reminded me of all the talent that people are just not paying attention to in Dice Ailes.
Dice Ailes is still good and I hope that one day, he’s gonna get the hype he deserves. For now, he’s just one of those many underrated talents.
