Controversial singer Dammy Krane has clarified the widely publicized allegations of a ₦180 million fraud involving social commentator and activist Verydarkman (VDM), revealing the entire saga to be a prank.
The initial claims came after VDM alleged that hackers had breached his NGO’s website, leading to a massive loss of donations intended for charitable causes. However, in a surprising twist, Dammy Krane posted a video on Instagram featuring himself and VDM, where he disclosed the truth.
Captioning the video, the singer wrote, “It was a prank. VDM is renovating a school in Jos.” He added a lighthearted tease in the video, saying, “Una no expect am abi?”
The revelation has stirred mixed reactions online. While some users expressed relief that no fraud had occurred, others criticized the duo for trivializing a matter that initially provoked widespread outrage.
VDM’s clarification that the funds were being used for renovating a school in Jos has drawn praise, aligning with his long-standing commitment to humanitarian efforts. However, the stunt has left many questioning the appropriateness of using such a sensitive topic as the basis for a prank.
