The Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville, Iowa has come and gone.
We won’t have a Field of Dreams game next year, as the area around it will be expanded and more fields will be added.
But that didn’t take away from the magical experience that came with it for the players.
The Chicago Cubs took on the Cincinnati Reds in this year’s Field of Dreams Game.
This marks the only game on the schedule where two Major League Baseball teams play a game in the state of Iowa.
Cubs shortstop Nico Hoerner commented on playing in the Field of Dreams Game, describing how surreal it truly was.
Nico Hoerner : “It felt like a college atmosphere. Definitely not normal. I could visibly see a horse from shortstop pretty easily.”

A Different Experience
It’s not something that you see every day.
Rarely do we see a Major League Baseball game in Iowa.
But Dyersville is no ordinary town, and the Field of Dreams is no ordinary field.
Aside from the legendary feel to the game, Hoerner said that it felt a little weird to play a game in Iowa.
It’s not just any game.
It’s a celebration of a legendary location in the history of baseball.
But it’s a different feel for sure, and Hoerner can attest to that.
If he saw a horse from out at shortstop, then it definitely was not a normal experience by any stretch of the imagination.
Magical things happen when you step on the Field of Dreams and actually play a game there.
There’s definitely a different sort of vibe than any other location in baseball.
Hoerner certainly felt that last night as he stepped out onto the field.
It’s not your typical baseball stadium.
It’s surrounded by corn fields and farmland.
But the experience is truly surreal for any player.
