Renowned Hollywood actor John Amos, known for his iconic roles in “Coming to America” and “Good Times,” has passed away at the age of 84.
His son, Kelly Christopher Amos, shared the news in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that his father died of natural causes on August 21.
Kelly Amos remembered his father as a kind-hearted man who was loved by fans worldwide, many of whom considered him a TV father figure.
He acknowledged his father’s lasting legacy in the entertainment industry, highlighting his remarkable body of work in television and movies.
“It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned. He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold and he was loved world over.
“Many fans consider him as their TV father. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor,” he announced.
Few weeks ago, Hollywood also mourned the passing of one of it’s own, Legendary actor, James Earl Jones.
Jones died peacefully at his home on September 9, 2024, surrounded by his family, as confirmed by his agent, Barry McPherson.
Born in Mississippi in January 1931, Jones became a Hollywood legend with unforgettable roles in films such as Coming to America, The Greatest, Field of Dreams, and Conan the Barbarian.
He is perhaps best known for his iconic voice work as Darth Vader in Star Wars and as Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King (1994).
Over his distinguished career, Jones received numerous honors, including an honorary Oscar, a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Tony Award.
He made significant contributions to television, winning two Emmys for his roles in Gabriel’s Fire and as the older Alex Haley in Roots: The Next Generation.
