Reports suggest that Juventus, one of Italy’s footballing powerhouses, is considering a summer move for former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez.
This speculation arises amid concerns over Thiago Motta’s underwhelming start as the club’s head coach.
Despite Juventus’ impressive 21-game unbeaten run in the league, Motta’s tenure has been far from smooth. The record includes 13 draws, raising doubts about the effectiveness of his hyper-offensive tactics, which had previously worked well during his time at Bologna.
While Motta’s aggressive approach brought excitement to games, his inability to adapt to different scenarios has been a sticking point.
As a player, Motta enjoyed a decorated career with stints at elite clubs like Barcelona, Inter Milan, and PSG, where he was celebrated as a visionary defensive midfielder.
However, his managerial journey remains a work in progress, and Juventus appears to be weighing their options for the future.
Having replaced Massimiliano Allegri in May 2024, shortly after Allegri led Juventus to a Coppa Italia triumph, Motta now finds his position under scrutiny. In response, the Bianconeri are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing in Xavi Hernandez, a big-name manager who could guide the club to new heights.
It remains to be seen whether Juventus will make a bold move to replace Motta, but the potential appointment of Xavi would undoubtedly mark a significant statement of intent from the Turin-based club.
