Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has hailed Neymar as a ‘great professional and great player’ following his exceptional start to the 2022/23 season.
The Brazilian superstar has been in inspired form for PSG in recent weeks, scoring eight goals and creating six in his seven Ligue 1 appearances so far. He added a goal to this tally in his side’s closely fought 1-0 win over Brest at Parc des Princes on Saturday – becoming the club’s fourth highest goalscorer ever in the process.
Speaking after that win, new PSG head coach Galtier was full of praise one of his star players, stating:
“I have always considered him to be one of the best players on the planet, but I have a much more informed and sharpened eye on his daily investment. Before, during and after training sessions.
“If he has just overtaken Pauleta and is having a very good start to the season, it is because he puts a lot of seriousness and concentration into his work.
“He is very invested on a personal level but also in the interest of the team. He is a great professional and a great player. I discover him with pleasure every day.”
Thanks to Neymar’s fantastic form PSG have gotten off to a flying start this campaign, winning all but one of their opening seven games while scoring 25 goals and conceding just four. How the club will be measured once again this season, however, is how they perform in Europe.
PSG beat Juventus 2-1 at home on Tuesday evening and will look to make it two wins from two in group H when they travel to Tel Aviv to face Maccabi Haifa next week.
