Chelsea have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Zenit on Wednesday night, The Times reports.
Chelsea midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, is said to be in line to face Zenit at the Krestovsky Stadium as he returns from injury.
The 27-year-old has recovered from his injury and began full training on Monday.
Kovacic has missed Chelsea’s last eight games with a hamstring injury.
The Croatia international sustained the injury in the last minute of a training session back in October.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to beat Zenit in Russia on Wednesday to guarantee a top spot in their Champions League group.
Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, may not want to risk playing Kovacic against Zenith but will be hoping to have his star fit and back in the squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash at home to Leeds United.
The kick-off time for Zenit vs Chelsea is 6:45 pm.
