Arsenal vs PSG player update
With both sides looking to field a strong side here are the player updates for both sides revealing who who would be available for the highly anticipated game:
Arsenal’s player injury update
Mikel Arteta’s options are becoming more limited with players like Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori still under assessment ahead of the Champions League fixture against PSG.
Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney will all remain unavailable with their respective injuries.
Mikel Arteta stated ahead of the fixture, “We’re looking forward to it. These are the kind of nights that we want to experience and want to have against an unbelievable opponent. [PSG] are exceptional. They have a very clear intention of how they want to dominate the game through the ball and when they don’t have it, they want it straight back. We know after the draw in Atalanta, with the number of games we have left still, it’s going to be really important. Nothing is going to be decided tomorrow.”
PSG player injury update
Luis Enrique can boat what many can categorise as a strong squad but with the dropping of Dembele from the 22-man squad of PSG, it is expected that the Ligue 1 champions will have limited options in terms of experience for that position.
Gianluigi Donnarumma has been confirmed fit for the upcoming match after missing the last four games due to a muscle injury. Marco Asensio is also back for PSG following a two-game absence caused by a thigh injury. Desire Doue and Vitinha have both recovered from ankle injuries, while Nuno Mendes has returned after dealing with a virus.
However, Goncalo Ramos (ankle), Lucas Hernandez (ACL), and Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles) remain long-term absentees for PSG due to injury
Speaking ahead of the fixture Luis Enrique stated, “I think Arsenal are one of the best teams in Europe at the moment. With the ball they are a team very close to the top European level and without the ball they are also very good. I would even say that they are one of the best teams in the world without the ball. They are a team with a real identity. We are similar but also have different styles of play.”
Arsenal vs PSG starting lineups
Here are the possible starting lineups for the two sides involved in the Champions League fixture Arsenal vs PSG:
Possible Arsenal starting XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Havertz, Partey, Rice; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli.
Possible PSG starting XI: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Ruiz, Neves, Zaire-Emery; Lee, Kolo Muani, Barcola.
Prediction
Given the key absence of Martin Odegaard, we expect PSG to play a more attack-minded football as they have always done even in the absence of Dembele. PSG would be looking to compete for all three points and Arsenal will be looking to play for a draw or a win, The lineups of both sides would determine how the fixture will go but PSG has a better chance of picking up all three points in the fixture.
