The St. Louis Cardinals have always been commended for their ability to draft and develop young talent, keeping their farm system strong while they look to contend for the postseason year in and year out.
Much of the credit goes to scouting director and former reliever Randy Flores.
One of the young prospects Flores discovered had himself a night last night for the Cards’ Double-A affiliate, the Springfield Cardinals.
Chandler Redmond cranked four home runs in last night’s game, but he made a little unique history in doing so.
He hit a solo shot, a two-run homer, a three-run homer, and a grand slam as well.
That is something that has only been done once in the history of baseball, and not at the Major League level.
This is hitting for the “home run cycle,” a feat performed only once before in recorded pro baseball history. #STLCards

Cards Prospect Makes History
Redmond has a bright future if he continues hitting for such power.
Nobody in Major League Baseball history can even say that they have done what he did last night, and it’s only happened once in recorded professional baseball history.
He shocked the entire world with his display of power.
That’s what is referred to as the “Home Run Cycle.”
This is quite something and could garner some attention from the Cardinals front office.
Only one person in professional baseball history can say that they have hit a solo shot, a two-run homer, a three-run homer, and a grand slam all in the same game.
That’s a nice bit of history right there.
The Cardinals have plenty of solid young prospects in their pipeline, and Redmond proved why he is a player to watch.
An unprecedented night like that will certainly garner attention from the media, if not those in the Cardinals front office.
