- Questioning why bloggers are pushing him, Burna Boy said he won’t sue because he knows everyone is only trying to make their daily bread.
Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, has once again sparked controversy online following a post he made about suing Nigerian bloggers.
A week ago, Burna Boy questioned many social media bloggers, especially Instablog, asking how much they need to totally forget about his name.
His outburst came hours after news reports made the rounds that he flew into Nigeria a female Kenya socialite, speculating romantic relationship and his recent beef with fellow colleague, Brymo.
In a more recent post made on his X platform, Burna Boy made a u-turn, saying that he is contemplating hiring 100 lawyers to sue for defamation.
He said he would have sponsored a series of legal battles against Nigerian bloggers with the money he earlier promised to give to them to stop posting about him but he is being considerate because he knows they (bloggers) are trying to make ends meet.
He however queried why Nigerian bloggers are hell-bent on pushing him to the wall. On his X handle on Wednesday, Burna Boy wrote in Pidgin:
“Dat money wey I wan give dem instablog dat time, e be like say na to give like 100 lawyers now, But I know say na hustle everybody dey hustle so e go pain me if I run dat kind tin. Why una dey push me na?”
In other news, veteran record producer Olumide Ogunade, popularly known as ID Cabasa, has said Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy’s recent claim that he turned down a $5 million offer to perform in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, UAE, because Emirati law prohibits smoking in public, was probably a “media stunt.”
ID Cabasa spoke in the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by media personality, Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu.
Nedu, the co-host, had asked: “Burna Boy rejecting $5 million because he cannot smoke in Dubai. Does it mean he has gotten to the point where he is so addicted to it and cannot do anything without smoking?”
Responding, ID Cabasa said he cannot relate because $5m is a lot of money to turn down.
