A newlywed bride has captured the internet’s attention after divorcing her husband a mere 24 hours after their wedding.
The story, shared on Twitter by user Hibzster, has since gone viral, amassing over 7.5 million views and sparking a heated online debate about respecting personal boundaries in relationships.
The bride’s decision to end the marriage was based on a seemingly trivial act: the groom’s decision to smash cake onto her face during the wedding reception.
The bride, who had clearly communicated her discomfort with this tradition beforehand, had one rule for her husband – to refrain from smearing cake on her face due to her claustrophobia, stemming from a traumatic car accident in her past. Claustrophobia, as per the Mayo Clinic, is the intense fear of confined or closed spaces.
The incident unfolded as the couple celebrated their nuptials. Ignoring his bride’s plea, the groom disregarded her emotional and psychological well-being, pushing her face into the wedding cake.
This seemingly harmless prank, however, triggered the bride’s claustrophobia, plunging her into a panic mode and causing profound distress.
Hibzster, the individual who shared the story on Twitter, lamented the groom’s insensitivity to his bride’s emotional trauma.
The tweet read;
“I read this article how a woman divorced her husband a day after their wedding because she told him her one rule was to not smash cake in her face since she’s claustrophobic from a car accident & guess what he did…he smashed her face into their wedding cake.”
