Luton Town’s hopes of avoiding relegation took a hit as they suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat at the hands of Brentford on Saturday’s encounter.

The result leaves Luton still swimming in the relegation zone, with their goal difference taking a major blow in their battle for survival.

Brentford wasted no time making their intentions known in the, with Yoane Wissa netting twice in the first half to give his side the lead.

Ethan Pinnock and Keane Lewis-Potter added to Luton’s misery with quick-fire goals, leaving the hosts stunned.

Kevin Schade then capped off Brentford’s dominant display with a fifth goal, leaving Luton with a mountain to climb.

Despite a late consolation goal from Luke Berry, it was a tough day at the office for Rob Edwards’ side as Brentford ran riot.

With the defeat, Luton find themselves still in the relegation battle, with Nottingham Forest and Everton above them in the standings.
