Boda Boda Rider Recounts Final Moments with Comedian Fred Omondi Before Tragic Accident

In a poignant interview shared on Facebook by Kenya Online Media, the boda boda rider who last transported comedian Fred Omondi before his fatal accident has come forward with his account.

The rider revealed that he picked up Omondi from a club where the comedian had been performing and dropped him off at Tunnel, where Omondi then booked a Bolt ride for his journey.

“I took him to Tunnel, and he requested a Bolt. He said he was going far and wanted to go fast, but my bike was not going fast enough. I left him at Tunnel, and I even saw that the amount of money he was paying that person was Ksh530 to his destination,” the boda boda rider recounted.

Tragically, Fred Omondi passed away in a road accident on Saturday, June 15, 2024. The accident occurred around 6 am when the boda boda he was riding collided with a speeding Forward Travelers Sacco matatu. Omondi died instantly from the impact.

Following the accident, Fred’s body was initially taken to Mama Lucy Hospital before being transferred to Chiromo Mortuary, where an autopsy confirmed that his death was due to injuries sustained in the collision.

Fred Omondi leaves behind a loving daughter and his siblings, including the well-known comedian and activist Eric Omondi, Irene, and the late Joseph Omondi. The loss has been deeply felt by his family, friends, and fans, who remember him as a talented young man who brought laughter and joy to many.

A memorial service in Fred’s honor will be held on Friday, June 21st at Citam Valley Road. Following the service, his body will be airlifted to Kisumu and then transported to Bondo, Siaya County, for burial on Saturday, June 22nd.

The tragic death of Fred Omondi has left a significant void in the Kenyan entertainment industry, and his legacy as a comedian who brought smiles to countless faces will be cherished by many.
