- Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 9 organisers have removed the Custodian Challenge and Head of House (HOH) ballot from the season.
- The HOH now has immunity but no longer has the “save and replace” power.
- Housemates will nominate pairs for eviction, with final decisions determined by viewer votes.
The organisers of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) have announced significant rule changes for the ninth season of the show.
The updates, revealed by host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu during Sunday’s live show, include the removal of both the Custodian Challenge and the Head of House (HOH) ballot, features that were introduced earlier this season.
Initially, the Custodian Challenge was designed to give selected housemates special powers, allowing them to influence evictions while enjoying immunity from being voted out.
Alongside this, the HOH ballot system was another strategic element intended to create suspense and competition among the contestants.
However, both these elements have now been discontinued.
With the elimination of these features, the role of Head of House has undergone a significant modification.
The position has regained its immunity privilege, but the “save and replace” power, which allowed the HOH to save a nominated housemate and replace them with another, has been removed.
Additionally, housemates will no longer vote to evict the bottom four pairs directly. Instead, they are now tasked with nominating pairs for eviction, with the final decision on which pairs are evicted determined by viewer votes.
In other news, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 9 housemates Nelita have made history as the first Heads of House (HoHs) to secure an immunity win this season.
The duo, consisting of Nelly and Anita, achieved this feat by emerging victorious in the immunity challenge.
Nelita, who were recently appointed as the new Heads of House for Week 3, chose Chekas as their HoH guests.
Their impressive performance not only earned them the HoH title but also saw them...
