Following the hiring of Vincent Kompany as the new head coach of Bayern Munich, reports now indicate that the Bundesliga giants have their eyes set on bringing another premier league player to the Allianz Arena in the June 2024 transfer window ahead of the 2024/2025 club football season.
According to media outlet, The Sun, Bayern Munich are set to complete the transfer of Fulham’s star player Joao Palhinha after reaching an agreement on personal terms with the Portuguese star.
Why does Bayern Munich want to sign Joao Palhinha?
Palhinha was set to join the German giants (Bayern Munich) last summer for a fee between £60m and £70m. However, the deal fell through on deadline day as Fulham withdrew, unable to find a suitable replacement.
Bayern Munich have rekindled their interest in Palhinha, this time at a significantly lower price. According to Sky Germany, negotiations between the two clubs have resumed and are advancing swiftly.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Palhinha is satisfied with the proposed contract and salary and is eager to finalize the transfer. It is expected that the deal could be completed within the next few days, just before Euro 2024 kicks off in Germany.
Palhinha, who has also been on Manchester City’s radar, is included in Roberto Martinez’s 26-man Portugal squad, aiming to replicate their 2016 success.
