Barcelona have identified Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as their major transfer target for the upcoming summer window.
This delivers a potential blow to Arsenal’s pursuit of the Swedish striker.
The Catalan club reportedly shifted focus to Isak after realizing their chances of signing Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyökeres are slim.
Gyökeres is said to prefer a Premier League move, with Manchester United emerging as his likely destination due to his connection with former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim.
Isak, who has been in stellar form for Newcastle, has also attracted significant interest from Arsenal, where manager Mikel Arteta views him as a key figure for the club’s future ambitions.
However, Barcelona’s interest and financial muscle could complicate Arsenal’s plans.
