Banker who committed su!cide also did shoe business to make ends meet – Businessman spills

Nothing is working in my life - Lagos banker writes as she commits suicide inside the bank premises

According to a businessman, the bank employee who recently committed herself at her Lagos workplace had a side business in addition to her bank position.

Amarachi Ugochukwu, a marketing employee, was discovered dead in the Ikorodu lavatory of the commercial bank where she was employed, having consumed pesticide.

She left a note explaining her choice, citing the difficulties she was having in the nation and her failure to reach her office goals.

“Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore,” Amarachi’s note read.

Folusho Adebisi, a Facebook user, described the dead woman as someone who made shoes in addition to her employment at a bank in order to subsist after her tragic death.

He told how Amarachi supported his son Tiwalade’s shoe company and characterized her as a kind and industrious person.

Adebisi wrote; “Tiwalade, my son, woke me up this morning to the terrible news trending online about a young lady, Amarachi Ugochukwu, a banker committing su!cide. Amarachi was a friend of Tiwalade and a customer of his business, Donetsk Footwear Limited. I had met Amarachi on a few occasions when she came for deliveries at Donetsk Footwear during the festivities.

“Amarachi was a young lady, friendly, amiable and hardworking, a lady cobbler that combined her stressful job of a banker with another stressful business of shoemaking and marketing. I read she left a su!cide note complaining of a hard life, hard economy etc.”
