Aston Villa marked their return to the Champions League with a 3-0 win over Young Boys on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana secured the perfect start for Unai Emery’s side.
Young Boys started brightly, with winger Ebrima Colley causing problems for Villa’s defense.
He forced a fine save from Emiliano Martinez early on and remained a threat throughout the opening minutes.
However, Villa gradually grew into the game and made their first breakthrough in the 27th minute when Tielemans coolly slotted home from a crowded box.
The English side doubled their lead shortly after, with Jacob Ramsey capitalizing on a sloppy backpass to extend Villa’s advantage.
Ollie Watkins had a goal disallowed just before half-time.
However, Amadou Onana sealed the win in the 86th minute, finding the net with a well-taken shot to make it 3-0.
