Arne Slot confident ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Real Madrid

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has expressed confidence as his side prepare to face reigning Champions League holders Real Madrid.

The highly anticipated clash at Anfield comes up on Wednesday November 27.

The Reds head into the encounter in strong form, having extended their lead at the top of the Premier League with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Southampton.

Mohamed Salah’s late brace secured the victory, ensuring Slot’s team maintain form following the November international break.

Real Madrid, however, presents a daunting challenge for Liverpool.

The Spanish giants boast an impressive record in recent meetings, winning seven of their last eight encounters, including the 2018 and 2021 Champions League finals.

Despite this, Slot, a newcomer to this storied rivalry, is undeterred.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he acknowledged the size of the task but emphasized Liverpool’s readiness.

“They (like Man City) are two teams who’ve dominated football in the last few years. So, two big games, and that’s why we needed to win today, and I’m happy,” Slot remarked.

The Anfield clash reignites a growing rivalry, with Liverpool aiming to overturn their fortunes against Los Blancos. With the Reds flying high domestically and Slot bringing fresh energy to the side, fans will be hoping for a different outcome this time.
