The Sun confirmed that five armed men reportedly broke into Baggio’s house, and he attempted to fight them back. However, he and his family found themselves imprisoned in a closet as the valiant star was unable to repel them.
The thieves carted away with jewellery and watches from Baggio’s house before he was able to escape and call the police.
Baggio confirmed in a statement which was released to the Italian news agency.
He said,
” Anything can happen under such circumstances. Fortunately, the violence only resulted in some stitches, bruises and a lot of fear, Now we have to get over the fear.”
The 57-year-old was later rushed to the hospital after suffering many bruises on his body due to the incident. This is where he spent he spent the rest of his night.
Baggio played 56 games for Italy, scoring 27 goals. He played for Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
