Apple Music, Spotify Yank Off Carter Efe’s Viral Single, ‘Machala’

‘Machala,’ the debut single of renowned social media comedian Carter Efe, has been taken down from two giant music streaming platforms, Apple Music and Spotify.

A quick check by WithinNigeria on Friday morning, September 2, 2022, showed that ‘Machala’ by Carter Efe featuring Berri-Tiga had been removed from two music stores.

We searched the platforms using keywords like Carter Efe, Machala, and Berri Tiga, and they all produced no result for the song. However, the searches brought out mixtapes containing the track, and songs with a similar title.

‘Machala’ had previously held the number one position on Spotify and Apple Music Charts for Nigeria shortly after its release on July 29, 2022.

Carter Efe launched his music career with ‘Machala,’ a song inspired by Afrobeats singer Wizkid. The comic act has always been vocal about his obsession with Wizkid, and he didn’t hesitate to create music for him.
