The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has declared all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners of the 21 local government chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship positions in Saturday’s elections.
KOSIEC Chairman, Mr. Mamman Nda-Eri, announced the results during a press briefing in Lokoja, highlighting that the election was peaceful, free, fair, and credible.
A notable result was the election of a female chairperson in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area, marking a significant step forward for women’s representation in the state’s politics.
Nda-Eri commended the electoral process and the active participation of voters, which he credited for the successful conduct of the elections.
He reiterated the commission’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process in future elections.
“The APC performed excellently, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving nothing to the other 18 political parties that participated in the election.
“The results at the headquarters were earlier declared at the various collation centres by the respective Returning Officers.
“As Chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby confirm the results previously collated and returned by the Returning Officers,” he stated.
Nda-Eri thanked the electoral officials, security agencies, observers, and journalists for contributing to the election’s success.
