APC candidate, Aiyedatiwa casts his vote

Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election in the state.

According to reports, Aiyedatiwa, who previously served as Deputy Governor to the late Rotimi Akeredolu, voted at Ugbonla, Ilaje LCDA. He is competing against Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other candidates in the race to retain his position.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured that the Ondo governorship election will be free and fair.

Professor Kunle Ajayi, INEC’s National Commissioner overseeing Ondo, Ogun, and Osun States, stated on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Friday that the commission is committed to ensuring the credibility of the process.

He encouraged Ondo voters to come out in large numbers, emphasizing that INEC had completed all necessary preparations for Saturday’s election and would uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

“We have done our own work, we are proud of what we have done and we will not disappoint the people of Ondo State,” Ajayi said.

He also called on the political actors to cooperate by following the rules to ensure a peaceful election. He further stressed the need for voters to conduct themselves orderly at polling units.

The INEC National Commissioner noted that, unlike the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, all the registered areas in Ondo State have received their sensitive materials.
