All Hail Joeboy, The Boomplay King!

Joeboy is not only one of the top artists in Nigeria (read: Africa), he is also one of those Mr. Eazi type of guys that continue to silently break new grounds.
I mean, how many Mr. Eazi type of guys are there really? Not a lot. It’s also probably no coincidence that Joeboy happens to be a Mr. Eazi protégé. The point is, Joeboy’s doings happen to be out of the ordinary; they’re not things many of his peers can replicate.

For instance, since far back as 2020, Joeboy has been making waves in parts of East Africa. In recent memory, the only Nigerian artists to have that kind of reach are Yemi Alade and Olamide. But that’s the thing. Joeboy is already part of that elite list.

You may have heard but in case you missed it, not very long ago Joeboy became the artist with the highest number of streams on the music streaming platform, Boomplay. Boomplay is a predominantly Nigerian platform and artists like Olamide, Kizz Daniel, Burna Boy, and Fireboy are some of the most popular artists on there.

But somehow Joeboy who has only two projects (an EP and a one-year-old studio album) is the most-played artist on Boomplay ever. Okay, really what kind of sorcery is that?

Seriously, I’m thinking maybe it’s time we started considering inducting Joeboy into that elite A-list of Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Olamide. All hail king Joeboy! The King of Nigerian music!

What do you think?

Do You Think Joeboy Should Be Named Among The Greats Just Yet?
