Albert Pujols Made A Statement With Home Run No. 689

Albert Pujols‘ farewell tour is more than just your average farewell tour.

Many might mistake his return to the St. Louis Cardinals as nothing but a need for nostalgia, but it has been anything but that for the three-time National League MVP.

Yesterday, he recorded his second multi-homer game of the season, hitting home runs No. 688 and 689 as the Cards managed to take two out of three from their NL Central rival, the Milwaukee Brewers, and maintain their hold on first place in the division.

But Pujols’ second homer of the game traveled quite a long way, going 443 feet out to left center and making a huge statement.

Pujols Makes A Statement

The Machine’s career may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean he can’t hit anymore.

The 42-year-old is still more than capable of putting on a show for Cardinals fans.

In fact, he’s now just seven homers shy of tying Alex Rodriguez for the fourth most of all time.

That also puts him 11 homers away from reaching the 700 mark.

443 feet is impressive, but it’s something that Pujols has been able to do his whole career and should come as no surprise to anybody.

It certainly isn’t for Pujols or the Cardinals, who have been watching him do this since he came up back in 2001.

Pujols’ farewell tour has been so much more than just a farewell tour.

He can still hit tape measure shots and come up clutch for St. Louis.

But one last World Series title with Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina is what’s on his mind right now.

He’s been a key contributor for St. Louis and will continue to be just that as the Cards set their sights on the postseason.
