Sen. Aisha Dahiru Binani of APC becomes Nigeria’s second female Governor after emerging victorious in the governorship poll in Adamawa State.
The state happens to be the home state of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yola, the state capital, declared Binani as the winner of the election on Sunday. Her PDP closest rival scored 406,617 votes, while the senator garnered 409,909 votes, leading to her victory.
Following the election of Aisha Dahiru Binani as governor, she made history as Nigeria’s second female Governor, with the first being Dame Virginia Etiaba of Anambra state, from November 2006 to February 2007.
