Initial reports suggested various causes, ranging from stress to food poisoning, but emerging details paint a more complex picture.
A source close to Gatwiri’s family has revealed that the deceased had been battling health complications following a car accident she was involved in last year alongside her brother, Brian.
The siblings were traveling from Meru to Nairobi when their car rolled over in Sagana and was written off.
Despite the severity of the crash, neither sought medical attention, as they believed they had no injuries.
Months later, Gatwiri began experiencing symptoms resembling epilepsy, including seizures and sudden falls.
According to a source close to the family, one such incident occurred while Gatwiri was at home with her boyfriend, Dave, and her mother.
This alarming episode prompted her family to ensure she was never left alone.
“Her sisters stayed with her to provide care, but on the day she passed away, they weren’t around,” the source disclosed.
Tragically, Gatwiri was found unresponsive at her home while her boyfriend was away in Kisumu for work.
Medical reports indicate that Gatwiri died due to a lack of oxygen supply to the brain.
The actress also reportedly relied on painkillers to manage her condition, which may have contributed to her death.
The family’s source shared that Gatwiri’s health challenges after the accident were a turning point.
“The car accident might have caused an internal injury that was never diagnosed. Afterward, she developed seizures but didn’t feel the need to seek medical treatment,” they said.
The family remains devastated by the loss, as fans and colleagues remember Gatwiri’s vibrant personality and creative contributions.
While her death leaves many questions, her legacy as a talented actress and content creator endures.
