Actor Eugenio Derbez to undergo ‘very complicated’ surgery after accident

Actor Eugenio Derbez is set to undergo a “very complicated” surgery after suffering an accident in recent days, his wife announced.

In a joint Instagram post, actress and singer Alessandra Rosaldo gave worried fans an update on her husband’s upcoming surgery but remained tight-lipped about the accident he was involved in.

“He is fine, however the injuries he suffered are delicate and in the next few hours, he will have to undergo surgery,” the Mexican soap opera star wrote in a statement to their over 24 million joint followers.

The 60-year-old actor, who hails from Mexico, most recently appeared in Apple TV+’s comedy series “Acapulco,” after starring in this year’s Academy Award Best Picture winner “CODA.”

Derbez is best known for starring in some of the most popular Spanish-language TV shows of all time, including “Al Derecho y Al Derbez,” “XHDRBZ” and “La Familia P. Luche.”

“The operation is very complicated, but it does not compromise his health,” his wife announced in Spanish.

“The recovery process will be long and difficult since he will have to rest for several weeks and then undergo rehabilitation therapies.”

In her statement, Rosaldo said it was important for them to share the news on their own terms.

“I have some work commitments to fulfill that I cannot cancel, but I ask you all with much love, that whatever you want to know about this topic, allow me to communicate it through my social networks,” she wrote. “Eugenio will be recovering and maybe for a while he will be away from his social networks and the media.”

“Thank you for always being close to us,” she continued, adding, “I know that with the good energy that you all will be sending us and with the favor of God, Eugenio will recover very soon.”
