Former Manchester United star, Kleberson, has advised the club to replace their captain, Harry Maguire, with £68m rated Juventus centre-back, Matthijs de Ligt.
Kleberson wants Man United to sign De Ligt as Maguire’s replacement at Old Trafford in the upcoming summer transfer window, adding that the Dutchman will do a better job.
Maguire has endured a woeful season so far, with his latest disastrous display on show in Man United’s Premier League 1-1 draw against Burnley.
The England international was central to Raphael Varane’s early header being disallowed by VAR after blocking a defender in an offside position.
He was then at fault for Burnley’s second-half equaliser, overcommitting in a challenge on Wout Weghorst and allowing Jay Rodriguez to run in behind.
But Kleberson believes Rangnick shouldn’t even be starting Maguire in Man United games.
“Manchester United need to make some signings at the centre back position to replace Maguire,” Kleberson told Paddy Power.
“He is a great player and leader, but there are too many moments that he just doesn’t perform, particularly when he’s one-on-one or up against pacey players. He needs help defending.
“They need someone faster, stronger in the air, that can anticipate what will happen, and that will be able to stop counter-attacks.
“I like Matthijs de Ligt, Manchester United tried to bring him in a few years ago, but it didn’t quite work out. Manchester United need a player like him. They need to get someone in there to do a better job.”
