See What Man City Said After Holders Algeria Were Knocked Out Of AFCON 2021

Manchester City have reacted to Riyad Mahrez crashing out of the Africa Cup of Nations in the group stages.
Manchester City star, Mahrez led his Algerian side to a 3-1 defeat to Ivory Coast on Thursday, meaning that the North Africans finished bottom of their group.

Goals from Franck Kessie, Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Pepe gave Cote d’Ivoire all three points as they finished top of the Group E on 7 points

Sofiane Bendebka scored a late consolation goal for the defending Champions.

Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea are now through to the AFCON last-16.

Equatorial Guinea finished in second position with 6 points after beating Sierra Leone 1-0.

Reacting to the development, Mahrez’s club, Man City tweeted,

“@Mahrez22 captained his side against Ivory Coast this evening, unfortunately the holders lost 3-1 and have been eliminated from the competition. #ManCity.”
