The Daily Mail UK reports that Man United has contacted former Barcelona manager Xavi more than once in the last few months as a possible replacement for Erik Ten Hag. Pressure continues to mount on Erik ten Hag due to the club’s poor start to the 2024/2025 season.
It’s no news that Erik Ten Hag’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain, and this is following the team’s poor start to the 2024-2025 season.
Due to United’s poor results in the Premier League and European competitions, the Dutchman’s future has remained uncertain with more questions than answers since he took charge over two seasons ago.
Despite a recent 2-1 victory over Brentford, the team is under increasing pressure as a result of its problems, which include serious injuries and as well as a disorganised roster.
After United’s victory against Brentford, Ten Hag spoke about his future at the club saying, “My focus is only on this. What everyone is writing is coming off my shoulders. I can deal with this. The players only have to think about the team performance, to have the right work ethic, to put everything in that they have. I know they are brilliant players. if you are determined then we will score goals and bring in wins. That’s what everyone expects.”
Since departing Barcelona in 2024, Xavi has been unemployed. During his tenure as manager, he successfully restored the team’s style of play and won multiple titles at Spotify Camp Nou some of which include, the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga.
It remains to be seen if this is a role the Spanish coach would consider given the difference in dynamics.
