CKay, the renowned singer, has expressed his discontent towards certain peers who ridiculed him when he initially introduced his unique interpretation of Afrobeats, only to later adopt a similar approach.

The artist behind the hit song ‘Love Nwantiti’ asserted that he has been a trailblazer for numerous sounds that contemporary Afrobeats musicians now embrace.

He reminisced about his early efforts to promote Afrobeats tracks on TikTok, during which he faced derision. Notably, many of those who once mocked him have since begun to emulate his methods.

On his X handle, the singer wrote: “history can’t be rewritten just because some people got paid to rewrite it…i’ll always be here to remind you.

“CKay is the first. I pioneered many vibes Afrobeats artistes thrive off today…iykyk. Y’all laughed when I came up with emo-afrobeat and was on TikTok all day but many are now doing the same thing, calling it ridiculous names (& making $$). you’re welcome sha.”

In other news, Nigerian artist and producer, Philip Kayode, known as Pheelz, has expressed that, contrary to the perceptions held by certain segments of society, music should not be viewed as a means to achieve rapid wealth.

He elaborated that music fulfills deeper spiritual functions.

Pheelz emphasized that music embodies the essence of “God,” highlighting its capacity to provide healing.

In a post on his X account, he stated:

It is not a get rich quick scheme
It is not a hustle
Music is life
Music is feeling
Music is healing
Music is God.”
