Hansi Flick in his post-match interview after an impressive first victory in the Spanish La Liga has opened up on how important the Spanish youngster, Lamine Yamal is to Barcelona.
Barcelona won their opening La Liga match of the season against Valencia, coming from behind to win 2-1. Robert Lewandowski scored both goals for Barcelona, with the first being assisted by Lamine Yamal.
Valencia had taken the lead through a header by Hugo Duro, but Barcelona came back to win. The match was part of the La Liga and was Hansi Flick’s first game in charge of Barcelona.
Lamine Yamal’s dazzling performance against Valencia left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance, including the opposing team’s fans, who showed their appreciation with applause despite their team’s defeat.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was impressed, singling out the 17-year-old for praise and revealing plans to utilize his versatility by deploying him in various positions throughout the season.
Speaking to reporters, the German manager said; “He is a fantastic player. I was not surprised that he was applauded at the Mestalla. He is a great player and everyone likes a player like that. And therefore it is normal to be applauded.”
When asked about Raphinha and Yamal’s roles in the team this season, Flick added, “They can play in several positions and at the moment it is necessary to have these solutions. We are focused on next week. It will be a tough match but it is good to have three points to go to the next level”.
After securing three points in their opening game, the Catalan giants will be back in action on August 24, 2024, as they take on Athletic Club in La Liga.
