Following days of speculation as to his next destination after attracting the interests of top clubs in Europe, Italian defender Ricardo Calafiori has reportedly made his final choice in either a move to Chelsea or Arsenal in the June 2024 transfer window.
Reports now confirm that Arsenal received the player’s greenlight and would commence negotiations with Bologna and submit a bid for Calafiori. Sports journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed this in a post that read, “After Riccardo Calafiori’s green light to move and contract, Arsenal have made direct contact with Bologna. Talks between clubs have started. No issues on Calafiori’s contract terms, up to the clubs now. Arsenal currently ahead, no bid from Chelsea so far.”
Ricardo Calafiori’s Playing Style and Stats
Ricardo Calafiori, currently a standout player for Bologna, is tactically versatile, capable of playing in both a back three and a back four. He is known for his exceptional anticipation, aggressive and physical style in applying pressure on opponents, and his quick and powerful presence on the field.
His technique and shooting prowess from a distance have earned him considerable praise, along with his ability to carry the ball effectively.
Calafiori began his career as a youth player at AS Roma, signing with the Italian giants on June 16, 2018. Unfortunately, on October 2, 2018, he suffered a severe injury that almost ended his career.
